First Eurhonet CSR Awards (2016)

The 1st Eurhonet CSR Awards Ceremony took place in Potsdam in the framework of our General Assembly 2016. 14 projects were evaluated by the Jury composed by members of the Eurhonet CSR Topic Group according to the following criteria:

• Innovation
• Results
• Stakeholders involvement
• Inspiration
• Sustainability

Three projects were nominated and presented during the Ceremony:

1st place: Climate Right – Uppsalahem

Behaviors are often difficult to influence. The winning entry has succeeded in influencing residents to change their behaviour and make climate smart choices in their everyday lives. The project has created commitment and participation from residents and has managed to achieve great results. Delivered along with several key partners, this project provides a tool to help residents understand and analyse their climate impact, and make smarter choices. The winning project was Klimaträtt from Uppsalahem. The price for the first classified was a donation of 500€ to be devolved to any responsible organization of the choice of the winner. Uppsalahem decided to donate to “VI-skogen” (www.viskogen.se).

2nd place: Homebuilder – ÖrebroBostäder AB

The project in 2nd place is supporting local residents to overcome the barriers of long term unemployment. The dream of this project was for local children, whose families were previously unemployed, to say with pride “my mum, or dad, has got a job renovating our house!”. It is envisaged that this project will provide employment opportunities for up to 80 long term unemployed residents during the 4 year programme and that the employment rate within the local area will increase from 53% to 65%.

3rd place: Climate Concept – ÖrebroBostäder AB

The project in 3rd place is helping one of our member organisations to save money and reduce their carbon emissions. This is a long term project involving cultural and structural changes, determination and commitment. The delivery of real and lasting results has enabled the organisation to realise that energy efficiency is an essential part of its day to day operations. So far, this project has helped the organisation to achieve energy efficiency savings of 38% and save over 5 million euros per year.

All projects submitted competed also for the European Responsible Housing Awards 2016. Find out more on this initiative at this link and download here the handbook providing key highlights of the 20 shortlisted projects!
