From 30 September to 1 October 2025, the Social Integration Topic Group members gathered in Arezzo to delve into the theme of Social Value.

The first day kicked off with a short introduction by our hosts at Arezzo Casa Spa, who provided an overview of the company’s scope of work. We then had the chance to enjoy a short, guided visit to the city’s Archaeological Museum, discovering some of the highlights of its collection.

Afterwards, our Topic Group Leader, Dragana Ćurović, introduced the new additions to the group and collected feedback on the previous meeting held in Dublin.

The session continued with two presentations showcasing initiatives from group members. Alexander Floß broke the ice by sharing insights into GBG’s “phases of life” approach. It considers a need-based range of services in their neighbourhoods, defined by the built, the social, and the administrative dimensions. He was followed by Luigi Troina from ALER BCM, who presented a project in Brescia addressing various aspects of social integration.

Later in the day, we explored the importance of considering social value from different perspectives. We learned about:

  • Ten low-cost initiatives that companies can implement to foster cohesion and better serve their tenants;
  • Ways to combine cost optimisation with social services;
  • The “Living Well” project, which focuses on the social management of public housing assets.

Our invited speakers, Cooperativa Sole, closed the day by sharing their experience in promoting social value. They presented an innovative project aimed at developing a new collaborative housing model in Bolzano, Italy.

The second day was dedicated to reflection and peer learning. Members had the chance to discuss their work, challenges, and success stories related to social value. Furthermore, we identified the group’s upcoming priorities to continue expanding our collective efforts.

All in all, these were two days of engaging presentations and fruitful discussions. We look forward to continuing to work and learn together on other aspects relevant to social integration in the next meetings.
