CEO Academy 2022 – 10 June 2022, Helsingborg

The 2022 CEO Academy took place in Helsingborg and was kindly hosted by our Swedish member Helsingborgshem AB. The event, organised in the context of H22 City Expo, a major city-wide initiative dedicated to innovation, gave participants the perfect framework to discuss around the role of leadership and management and to dive into social innovation through the great example of the Sällbo project.
Following an inspiring key note speech by Prof. Liu from the Department of Urban Studies of Malmo University, CEOs had the chance to discuss what leadership and innovation means for their companies and to address questions such as how to balance the need to innovate while ensuring people follow necessary procedures and guidelines and how to encourage innovation when people are busy doing their “day job”. The study visit that followed gave participants the opportunity to visit the Sällbo scheme and Drottninghög, a 1960s Million Programme neighbourhood under transformation.

CEO Academy 2021 – 11 June 2021, WebEx

The 2021 CEO Academy took place virtually and represented the occasion for participants to find out more about general macro-scenarios that must be considered in a post-covid world. CEOs discussed also future trends in the housing sector, including how the world of work is going to change and how our companies are planning for this change.
Furthermore, in smaller breakout rooms, participants shared views about some strategic issues such as future financial challenges and opportunities for their businesses and the delivering on new homes and carbon reduction in the existing stock. Lastly , CEOs assessed what they have learned from this pandemic and how this will make their businesses better prepared for future risks.

CEO Academy 2019 – 4 & 5 June 2019, Bologna

The 2019 CEO Academy was kindly hosted by ACER Bologna, one of the 9 companies gathered under the umbrella of the CISPEL network.
The main theme of the Academy was “Innovation in the Digital World”. Following the inspiring keynote speech of Mr Andreas Lingers, Chief Development Officer at Gavlegårdarna, CEOs split into three groups to discuss key challenges and opportunities offered by digitalisation and automation.
In the afternoon, CEOs had the opportunity to learn more about ART-ER, a consortium aiming at fostering Emilia-Romagna’s sustainable growth by developing innovation and knowledge, attractiveness and internationalisation of the region. Participants had then the chance to take part in a guided tour in the city centre of Bologna.

CEO Academy 2018 – 14 & 15 June 2018, Marne-la-Vallée

The 2018 CEO Academy was kindly hosted by our French member Opal – Offices Publics de l’Aisne et de Laon. Through the cooperation between ÖrebroBostäder and InnoEnergy, participants had the chance to learn how smart control-systems, energy storage and local energy production combined with industrial automation in buildings can lower the energy consumption of residential buildings by 40% and reduce the tenants’ cost for electricity by 25-50%. After this presentation, the attention was drawn to the issues the French social housing system is currently facing and the discussion around new economic models and related scenarios to address these issues. To complemented the Academy, a study visit to “The Circle” Disney’s Headquarter and to “Secteur II and Secteur III” represented the occasion to show participants how the agglomeration Paris Vallée de la Marne changed and will change over the next years.

CEO Academy 2017 – 31 May & 1 June 2017, Gothenburg

CEO Academy 2017The 2017 CEO Academy was kindly hosted by our Swedish member Bostadsbolaget in Goteborg. The Academy represented and exciting opportunity for our members to address some of the big social challenges that the sector is facing and to find out more about the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, a bottom-up way of working with local communities that focuses on identifying and mobilizing existing strengths and assets in order to boost both social and economic development. The Academy was complemented by a study visit to Älvrummet, a building dedicated to showcase and debate urban development projects in the Gothenburg’s areas as well as by a visit to the Hammarkullen neighborhood that was built in 1968-70 as part of the Million Programme.

CEO Academy 2016 – 24 & 25 May 2016, Vienna

CEO Academy 2016The 2016 CEO Academy that took place in Vienna represented an excellent opportunity to understand the Austrian subsidised rental model presented by Wohnfonds Wien and to find out more about the “Dialogue-based Developer Competition’ in place. The Academy continued with a guided tour to Sonnwendviertel, an area still under development where around 5,000 apartments for about 13,000 people are currently under development and to the Aspern Urban Lakeside, another large expansion project to be finalised in 2020 that will provide high-quality living environment for some 20,000 people plus about the same number of jobs. The visit concluded to the Aspern Smart City Research Center, where the technical solutions for the energy management of the Aspern area were explained to participants.

CEO Academy 2015 – 10 & 11 June 2015, London

CEO Academy 2015The event was hosted by Poplar Harca in London. The aim of the 2015 Academy was to allow us to understand the context we are working within in the different countries, how we are structure and financed as housing companies and the future challenges we will be facing. Knowing better the opportunities and limitations of each organisation it is the principal scope of our Network.  The field visit for this event took place at Spotlight, a community engagement and regeneration projects carried on by Poplar Harca. Spotlight is a creative youth service shaped by young people, for young people with state of the art studios, design and broadcast facilities with a gim, cafe, offices and meeting rooms.

CEO Academy 2014 – 22 & 23 May 2014, Naples

CEO Academy 2014Urban regeneration is one of the priorities in most of European cities. Across Europe serious problems remain in how to revive many areas in order to reduce economic and social deprivation, to foster security and safety and boost citizens’ involvement. The event’s objective was to exchange practices and information about the different ways developed in Eurhonet countries with the purpose of learning from each other and reaching ideal solutions.

In times of financial, economic and social crisis, where thousands of citizens all over Europe experience greater difficulties in finding decent housing, Eurhonet looked at the formulation of a European response to the challenges of Social Housing, in order to drive the creation of new growth and jobs in Europe.
