10-11 June – Leadership Summit: Varberg, Sweden

12 March 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the Eurhonet Leadership Summit, which will take place on 10–11 June 2026 in Varberg, Sweden, kindly hosted by our Swedish member Varbergs Bostad AB.

The Leadership Summit is open to CEOs, Board members, and top management teams of Eurhonet member organisations. It offers an excellent opportunity to connect, exchange insights, and reflect together on the future of public and social housing.

Future neighbourhoods – shaping urban life around people

The 2026 edition of the Leadership Summit will focus on “Future Neighbourhoods – Shaping urban life around people.” As cities and communities evolve, neighbourhood development must place people at the centre, integrating sustainability, mobility, safety, and community life into the design of urban environments.

Through inspiring keynote talks and collaborative discussions, we will explore what human-centred urban development means in practice. We will delve into how housing providers can contribute to building neighbourhoods that are vibrant, inclusive, and resilient. The aim is to create places where people feel safe, connected, and proud to live — both today and in the future.

Learning from Varberg’s urban development

The first day of the Summit will include keynote presentations and insights into urban development in Varberg. We will hear from experts such as Charlotta Mellander, Professor of Economics at Jönköping International Business School. In her presentation, she will expand on why people choose certain places to live and how cities can attract talent and foster thriving communities.

The programme will also highlight Varberg’s urban development strategy, including the transformation of the Sörse neighbourhood, once part of Sweden’s Million Programme housing districts. Through renovation, new housing development, and the concept of “Life between the blocks,” the area is being reshaped into a vibrant and inclusive neighbourhood designed to strengthen community life and social sustainability.

Strengthening communities through collaboration and innovation

On the second day, discussions will turn to the role of housing providers in shaping sustainable and resilient communities. We will explore topics such as community engagement, inclusive neighbourhood development, and innovative approaches to infrastructure and energy systems.

The programme will also include a talk by Adnan Bianca, founder of Unite People FC. He will highlight how sport can contribute to building safer and stronger communities. We are also glad to have Swedish entrepreneur Jonas Birgersson as a speaker to learn more about future-oriented digital and energy infrastructure for sustainable urban environments.
