Community Gardens

Best practice by Poplar HARCA, UK

Poplar HARCA’s community gardens are green, open spaces that transform our estates into hubs of environmentally friendly activity. Many of our residents grow their own vegetables; the Kodu (Bengali pumpkin) being a popular option!

Run by gardening groups of local people and supported by our community centres, we’re proud of the innovative projects that have come out of our gardens. Rescued battery hens, bees producing our very own Poplar Honey, and BBQs and events bringing the community together: all thanks to the 15 beautiful gardens maintained around our estates.
