(Past) 21 March 2024: Social Integration Topic Group Meeting – online

4 March 2024

During the next Social Integration Topic Group meeting on 21 March (10:00 – 12:00 CET), we are pleased to welcome Simon Chinn from the Urban Land Institute (ULI). During this online meeting, we’ll hear about ULI’s social impact research and projects. We will use these insights as a starting point to gain further inputs on the topic from Eurhonet members.

Introducing our guest speaker

Simon Chinn is Vice President of Research & Advisory Services at ULI, where he is responsible for managing its innovative research agenda covering the key issues shaping the future of cities and the real estate industry. These include climate change and sustainability, investment and development trends and shifts in demography and technological change.

Prior to joining ULI, Simon specialised in research on global cities and real estate for Grosvenor, one of the world’s largest privately-owned international property businesses. Simon’s role involved undertaking analysis on global city developments to inform the company’s long-term strategy and thinking on cities. He has undertaken major research projects on megatrends for real estate, examining topics such as urbanisation, demographic change, digital disruption and climate change. Simon also has previous experience working in urban planning, economic development and strategic consulting for the retail sector.

ULI’s work: social impact research

Simon Chinn will present various social impact research projects. Among which, we will hear about a report exploring opportunities and challenges for the expansion of social impact investing. The findings make recommendations to enable a much broader implementation of social impact opportunities.

We will also hear about a new recent research project on social impact specifically in the residential sector, focusing on best practice examples. This will provide us with the perfect framework to share and discuss our own experiences.
