The next Sustainable Construction Topic Group meeting will take place in Örebro, Sweden, hosted by our member ÖrebroBostäder AB. The meeting will focus on smart cities and buildings. Participants will learn from colleagues at ÖrebroBostäder, share experiences and best practice, and visit three interesting pilot sites.
Smart cities and buildings
To kick off the Topic Group meeting, Jonas Tannerstad, Head of Technical Installations at ÖrebroBostäder will deliver a keynote presentation on smart cities and energy.
Participants will also visit three pilot sites in Örebro. The first – in the Karmen district – will focus on smart energy storage. The site was nominated as one of the three best renovation projects in Sweden in 2019. Before visiting, participants will take part in the Flying Experts Workshop. Split into teams, they will work together to design how they would carry out a renovation in the Karmen district based on building plans. Having presented and discussed with the group, participants will then be able to see how the renovation was carried out in real life.
The second pilot site will examine a construction site in the Måsen district. Here, an ongoing project will provide 130 new apartments in autumn 2024. A final visit will look at renovation and recycling in the Varberga district. Built in the mid 1960s, the district has been developed by ÖrebroBostäder over the last 15 years.
Best practice sharing
The study visits and keynote speech will help to spark discussions , with plenty of opportunities in the programme for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Participants will present how smart cities are being used to meet recycling goals in their countries, and take part in a World Cafe workshop on smart cities. In addition, there will be time to reflect on the most pressing issues facing our organisations with regards to sustainable construction.
See you in Örebro on 25-26 September.
