(Past) 9-10 April 2025: Age-friendly homes and meeting places – Lund, Sweden

26 January 2025

For the first Ageing Topic Group meeting of the year, we invite you to Lund, Sweden. We will be hosted by Lunds Kommuns Fastighet AB (LKF) on 9-10 April 2025. The meeting will provide plenty of opportunities to share on age-friendly homes and neighbourhoods, with a particular focus on age-friendly meeting places and diverse housing solutions.

Housing solutions for older tenants

We will begin with an introduction from LKF to their services for older tenants, looking at examples of their different housing models.

Three study visits will complement our discussions. First, we will explore the St. Peter building, which provides 36 apartments specifically for older tenants. Tenants live centrally in Lund, close to amenities and neighbourhood activities. Additionally, they have access to a host service for additional support. Second, we will visit Ribbingska, which was one of the first care homes in Sweden. LKF renovated the property in 2008-2009, converting it into 29 modern apartments for people aged 55 and over.

The final study visit will be to Russinet. This is a collective housing complex for people over the age of 50 without children at home. In addition to the apartments, tenants have access to guest rooms and various shared facilities, including a library and TV room, sauna, a hobby and exercise room, and a roof terrace.

An older woman stands in the doorway of her home smiling. She wears a bright yellow jumper and a silver necklace in a diamond shape. The door is brown-red with a bright red window.
Three people sit at a table in a cafe laughing. They are drinking hot drinks and look to be aged 50+.

Age-friendly meetings places and helped residents affected by dementia

On the second day, we will exchange on age-friendly outdoor areas, focusing on meetings places. LKF will share successful projects and we will contribute with experiences from our own organisations. To close the meeting, we will hear from a dementia specialist from Lund municipality, who will explain their cooperation with LKF.
